Rich Hill (44), the "oldest pitcher" in the Major League Baseball (MLB), will even stage an international competition.

USA Today, a U.S. media outlet, announced on the 22nd (Korea time) the roster for the 2024 WBSC Premier 12 to be held next month. Hill, a 45-year-old pitcher born in 1980 and his Korean age, drew attention on board, with promising players from each MLB club listed. The media introduced him, saying, "There is a pitcher who has experienced 20 seasons in MLB."

Hill made his big league debut with the Chicago Cubs in 2005, and Hill showed off his competitiveness as a "strategic left-hander" and went on the MLB stage. In August, he stood on the MLB stage as a member of the Boston Red Sox. After signing a minor contract, he went on to the stage where he was familiar with himself. Hill also built a starting lineup with Ryu Hyun-jin (currently Hanwha Eagles), a "Korean Monster" when he was with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The U.S. national team was headed by Mike Scioscia, a former coach of the Los Angeles Angels who took the helm at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Hill is believed to have been selected, hoping to pass on his know-how to young players.

The U.S. includes not only Hill, but also quite a few players with big league experience, including Dan Altavilla, Dylan Covey, Spencer Patton and Tukey Tousang. There are also four players in the top 100 of the MLB Pipeline Prospects list, including Temer Johnson (87th), who plays for Double A under the Pittsburgh Pirates. 스포츠토토

"We are looking forward to this year's event. Young and veteran players are in good harmony," Coach Socia said.

Premier 12 will feature the top 12 WBSC countries. The U.S. was in Group A along with Mexico, the Netherlands, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Panama.
